| Description: | Job Title: Sr. Director of SW Engineering Department: R&D Reports to: SVP of R&D SUMMARY As a key member of the R&D leadership team, this position will be responsible for solutions engineering of the Company products, the delivery of software elements of the Company products and solutions, and the leading of both the R&D Software and Systems Engineering teams and activities. Additionally, this position will be accountable for project commitments, deliverables and results. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES o Develop highly scalable development organization with focus on rapid, quality software development. o Provide strategic guidance and thinking in the design and development of major technical initiatives to support strategic business programs and enhance revenue growth. o Lead and manage teams of development engineers based on deep understanding of software development processes and life cycle management. o Develop organizational competency in solution architecture and system design. Drive application development strategy and planning. o Work closely with Product Management to translate requirements into product deliverables; ensure that product implementation is focused on delivering the requirements. o Build organizational competency in project management, establish priorities, ability to confidently commit to project scope, schedule and deliverables. o Manages project risks and proactively identifies and resolves resource issues. o Establish metric and guidelines, and measure performance against them. o Motivate, foster innovation and develop technical leadership. o Establish and sustain relationships with vendors, works with offshore/outsource partners to deliver projects on time with high quality. o Assessing current and future staffing needs based on organizational goals and business strategies. o Prepare annual and quarterly budgets and staffing plans that support the business and strategic plans. o Provide clear communication and specific guidance to operational teams to ensure successful launch and maintenance of products and services. o Provide strategic guidance and thinking in enterprise architecture, solutions design, quality assurance and development of system engineering initiatives to support strategic business programs and enhance revenue growth and scalability initiatives. o Provide leadership and mentorship for the following systems groups: o Consumer and Customer Web Applications o 3D Applications o Manufacturing Automation Systems o Software Quality Assurance o Systems Integration Testing o Software Configuration Tools o Systems Solutions o Systems Architecture o Systems Production Support o Business Application Analysis o Work closely with IT Operations, Marketing, Manufacturing Operations, International and other key stake holders to develop an optimal Roadmap and execute with excellence resulting in on-time/high quality delivery. o Motivate, foster innovation and drive excellence and continuous improvement. o Assess current and future staffing and development needs based on organizational goals and business strategies. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: o As a key RDITG staff member, provide cross-functional leadership to drive people, processes and product excellence throughout the RDITG/Company organization. o Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources. o Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Other duties may be assigned QUALIFICATIONS o Strong leadership skills and business acumen. o Excellent analytical problem-solving skills. o Able to manage and work cross-functionally. o Outstanding communication skills. o Highly driven and result oriented. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE o BS or MS in computer science or related discipline. o 5+ years of software development. o Additional 8+ years of R&D organizational management. o 5+ years in device or enterprise application development. |
